Orchard hotel or Pan Pacific hotel?

Hi, my son and I are planning a couple of nights stay in Singapore on our way to Australia. We still undecided whether to stay at the orchard hotel or at the pan pacific hotel. Can you give us an advice on this. Both hotels are located nearby shopping malls.

Our plan is to have a couple of days free to do some shopping and some sightseeing.

My son wants to do the amphibious boat tour, night safari and the high tea at the raffles hotel and the botanic garden. I'm also planning to visit the arab street ,the little india and do the trip on the cable car .

Between the two hotels which one is more convenient ?. Can you help us to arrange for the sightseeing and recommend an itinerary?

======

The orchard hotel is located at the top of orchard road . It is across the street from the forum shopping mall. Next to the forum shopping mall is the hilton hotel . And from there onwards are the malls.

The shopping belt stretches roughly two to five kilometers of shops and malls and ends at the millenia walk . This is where the pan pacific hotel is. The pan pacific hotel is within walking distance to the arab street area. From there to walk to little india is only ten to twenty minutes.

The amphibious tour also runs from the suntec city. An overhead bridge links the pan pacific hotel and the suntec city. From the suntec city to raffles hotel is just a short walking distance. Raffles hotels starts its high tea at 3pm.

In terms of location the pan pacific hotel is more convenient and you don't have to rely on public transport too much. All your areas of interest is within walking distance.

Suggested itinerary:
Day 1: take the open top bus. It leaves from suntec city. Have lunch at the botanic garden. Walk down to orchard road pass the tanglin shopping mall. Evening go to the night safari. Pick up is tentatively at six pm.

Day 2. Little india then walk to arab street . From arab street it is just a ten to fifteen minutes walk to the raffles hotel . High tea is served at 3pm. Evening have dinner on the cable car.
