Where is the main shopping area within the city? We also want to do some city sightseeing and do the breakfast at the zoo. We have two full days in Singapore. Can you recommend an itinerary and suggest a hotel for us. ?
=====
The city main shopping area is Orchard road. It stretches from tanglin shopping mall down to Dhoby Ghaut. If you walk further down , you will see the Raffles City shopping mall with its underground shops linking to the Suntec city shopping mall.
There are many hotels along orchard road you can choose from.
Hotels located nearby modern shopping malls and some markets are Allson hotel , oxford, carlton, Intercontinental, Merchant courts Hotels, Swisotel, Raffles hotel, Naumi hotel, just to mention a few. From the list , you can narrow it down to suit your budget and taste.
The merchant court hotel is located next to the singapore river. There are many restaurants and shops along the river which open till late at night. So food is not a problem. Another hotel you might want to consider is the intercontinental hotel which is next to the bugis market.
The hotel is connected to Bugis junction shopping mall. As at to moment of writing another modern shopping mall is also under contstruction opposite the bugis junciton mall.
Ten minutes walk from the intercontinental hotel , pass the bugis junction , is the arab st market areas.
Opposite the intercontinental hotel is the National library. Next to the library is the Bras Basah shopping complex followed by the Raffles Hotel and Raffles city shopping area.
